Compound Your Impact

Through the Oklahoma Impact Investing Collaborative, MetaFund connects foundations and philanthropists with innovative Program Related Investment (PRI) opportunities that compound the impact of their capital.

What is a PRI?

A Program Related Investment (PRI) is an investment made by a foundation in pursuit of its charitable mission. The MetaFund PRI is structured as a flexible loan from the foundation or philanthropist to the Oklahoma Impact Investing Collaborative (Collaborative), which then uses those funds to invest in social impact projects. Like a grant, the PRI counts toward the foundation’s qualified distribution requirements; however, unlike a grant, the funds can be recycled into multiple mission-driven projects and then repaid to the foundation at maturity, significantly compounding the impact of philanthropic capital.

Why Invest in the Collaborative?

A PRI in the Collaborative provides foundations and philanthropists looking to grow their impact with a number of key advantages:

  • Experience: MetaFund has 20+ years of experience generating both social and financial returns by providing innovative financing to mission-driven projects.

  • Turn-Key: As manager of the Collaborative, MetaFund uses this experience to identify, underwrite, structure, document, and monitor financing to social impact projects, providing foundations with a turn-key way to start impact investing.

  • Control: In the Collaborative, foundations and philanthropists control exactly which projects their funds are used to support, ensuring that each use aligns with their individual mission.

  • Exposure: By pooling funds with other philanthropic investors, the Collaborative provides exposure to multiple high-impact projects while also diversifying risk.

  • Impact: The Collaborative allows foundations and philanthropists to maximize the social impact created by their philanthropic dollars as these funds are recycled to support multiple projects.
