For Immediate Release
September 15, 2025
OKLAHOMA CITY — MetaFund, an Oklahoma City-based nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), proudly announces the recent hiring of Daniel M. Garcia as Business Development Officer. In this capacity, the mission-driven financial and community development professional will drive small business lending growth by cultivating partnerships with financial institutions, economic development organizations, and referral networks. His work will help strengthen MetaFund’s ability to serve the “nearly bankable” segment—organizations who are close to qualifying for conventional financing but need additional capital and support.
“I am excited to welcome Daniel to our team. His extensive experience in financial institutions and economic development is the perfect blend to complement and grow MetaFund’s small business lending. Daniel’s leadership and insight will be instrumental as we continue expanding our impact and deepening our commitment to provide capital to underinvested communities,” said Sarah Reed, President & CEO.
Garcia brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services, community development, and inclusive economic growth to the position. He previously served as Assistant Vice President of Multicultural Strategy at True Sky Federal Credit Union, where he was instrumental in creating a Community Advisory Board and leveraging a federal Technical Assistance grant to advance the organization’s efforts toward achieving CDFI designation. He also created equitable lending products, coached minority- and women-owned businesses, and delivered financial wellness initiatives that addressed systemic challenges such as hunger, housing, and transportation.
Garcia is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as an aircrew member on the AWACS platform during the Desert Storm conflict. His commitment to service extends into his community roles as Treasurer of the Greater Oklahoma City Asian Chamber of Commerce and the Oklahoma City Adventure District, and as a Board Member of the American Red Cross of Oklahoma. In addition, he previously served on several other boards and committees in the Oklahoma City metro.
