Steve Holmes, CPA
Steve joined MetaFund in 2023 as the Assistant Controller and was quickly promoted to Controller. He originally hails from upstate New York and is loving life in the Sooner State. Steve earned his BS in Business and Public Management from the State University of New York in Utica, and began his early career operating retail stores in the paint industry in Virginia and South Carolina.
He always knew accounting was in his veins and jumped at the opportunity to become an auditor with the Commonwealth of Virginia, an opportunity for which he is forever grateful. As an auditor, Steve audited a wide array of Virginia’s agencies, from colleges and universities to the retirement system and 529
education savings plan. During his tenure as an auditor, Steve returned to the collegiate world at Virginia Commonwealth University to prepare for and pass the CPA exam.
Soon thereafter, he and his wife relocated to Oklahoma to be near family. Steve was fortunate to work his way up the ladder to Controller and Director of Financial Reporting over eight years with Oklahoma’s own Griffin Media. He also had experience with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation before joining MetaFund. In his downtime, Steve and his wife enjoy live music and concerts, biking, and vacationing to warm climates.
